Our Story – John Kubricky & Sons
John Kubricky (no middle name), was born on the 9th of May 1909 in Little Falls, New York. His father, John Kubricky (no middle name) and mother Anna Vdovjak Kubricky emigrated to Little Falls, New York from Myjava, Czechoslovakia in 1905. Rachel Harris Kubricky was born on the 17th of April 1914 in Harrisena, New York and she and John had 3 sons: Richard John, Leroy Harold (“Duke”) and Paul George. Having worked for Lane Construction as a Job Superintendent on road work in Little Falls, and later as a partner with the Sperry-Kubricky Company doing foundation earthwork, John & Rachel founded John Kubricky & Sons in 1948 in Glens Falls, New York with Rachel in the Office and John in the Field.
John Kubricky & Sons quickly developed a reputation for quality work and excellent craftsmanship. Under John’s leadership and vision, the company concentrated on the highly technical and challenging specialty of underground water and sewer line installation, replacement, and repair – which combines the skills of earth moving with the expertise of fluid dynamics on a large scale. The methods and processes John developed are still used and valued today.
John’s sons, Richard John and Duke, worked with John until his death on the 1st of December 1969 - during which time the company completed many large and notable projects - including a 26 mile waterline on Route 22 in Winooski, Vermont. Duke then assumed management of the company until 1979 - during which time Richard’s son, Mark Richard Kubricky and Duke’s son John Francis Kubricky, worked for the company. Management of John Kubricky & Sons was transferred to Duke’s ex-wife, Joan Monahan Kubricky, in 1979. In 1983, the assets of the company were sold to the D. A. Collins Companies which has operated the company as Kubricky Construction ever since.
Following Rachel Harris Kubricky’s death on the 5th of March 1995, Richard’s sons, Scott Richard and Brian Richard, re-established John Kubricky & Sons in December of 2018 - 49 years after John’s death – to continue John and Rachel’s ardent desire for their sons (Richard, Duke and Paul), grandsons (Mark, John, Scott, and Brian), and great grandsons (Jacob and Forrest) and great granddaughters (Quincie, Brooke, Rachel, and Taylor) to work and prosper together as a family. Under Scott’s leadership, the company has once again reclaimed its reputation for quality work and excellent craftsmanship.
